Clock Maker Course (CMC)
OBJECTIVE: This course will provide instruction by designing and making clock parts while utilizing the principles and techniques learned in previous courses and reinforcing the confidence needed to pursue this trade to the fullest extent. This course will prepare the student for an occupation as an expert clock maker.
(CMC1): 15 Hours Instruction $550.00
Building on the Clock Specialist Course, the student will learn about the lathe, close tolerances, and cutting and polishing brass and steel. Work with hard (tempered) and soft (annealed) metals. Pre-requisite: the student must complete the Clock Specialist Course.
(CMC2): 15 Hours Instruction $550.00
Practice making arbors, replacing pivots, putting teeth in wheels, and more. Pre-requisite: CMC1
(CMC3): 15 Hours Instruction $550.00
Adjust the length of mainsprings, make a pendulum, reface pallets, and replace verge wires. Pre-requisite: CMC2
(CMC4): 15 Hours Instruction $550.00
Begin to make and build a wooden clock. Following a pattern, cut the “plates” and “pillars”, and locate and drill holes for bushings. Pre-requisite: CMC3
(CMC5): 15 Hours Instruction $550.00
Make the wheels and arbors for your clock. Pre-requisite: CMC4
(CMC6): 15 Hours Instruction $550.00
Assemble and adjust your clock. Make a dial and hands. Pre-requisite: CMC5
